My YouTube channel is sneaking up on 2,000 subscribers. To celebrate the milestone I decided to share my favorite sweet tea recipe. Being from the southeastern United States, sweet tea is a staple of daily life. However, I find that most sweet tea is heavy on the sweet and rather weak on the tea flavor. So, after months of tweaking the ingredients, ratios, and timing my family and I decided that this recipe gave the best balance of sweetness and flavor. The video is designed to be more of a visual experience so if you want the specifics, the recipe is as follows:

  • Fill a two quart saucepan mostly full with cold water.
  • Bring to 200˚F / 94˚C
  • Kill the heat and add:
  • - 1 Lipton Family Size Tea Bag
  • - 1 Luzianne Decaf Family Size Tea Bag
  • - 1 Celestial Seasonings Sleepytime Tea Bag
  • Steep for 5 minutes (longer for more flavor)
  • Pour 1/3 cup of Turbinado Cane (Raw) Sugar into a half gallon container.
  • Remove the tea bags giving them a gentle press.
  • Carefully pour your warm tea mixture into the half gallon container.
  • Top off the container with cold water.
  • Shake as needed to dissolve the sugar.
  • Chill and Enjoy!
